SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jerry Ray Gould, who passed away on
4January 28, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was born to Percy Jay Gould and Mary
6Gould in Moline on January 27, 1940; he attended Alwood High
7School, where he enjoyed playing basketball with his brother;
8he started serving as a weather observer in the U.S. Navy in
91959 and was honorably discharged in 1963; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After his military service, Jerry Gould began
11working for the Orlando Sentinel newspaper in Florida; he then
12moved to Andros Island in the Bahamas, where he worked as as a
13technical expert in computer sciences for a United States
14Naval contractor; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In retirement, Jerry Gould returned to Alpha and
16connected with many of his friends from his school days; he
17enjoyed golfing with his friends and spent many winters in
18Arizona; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was preceded in death by his wives,
20Barbra (Clark) Gould and Judy (Hyatt) Gould; his parents; his
21brothers, Willard Gould and Thomas Gould; and his sisters,

1Maridean (Gould) Andree and Carol (Gould) Spence; and
 
2    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Jerry Gould was
3survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and
4grandnephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Jerry Ray Gould and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Jerry Gould as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
