SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eric Juane "Ricky" Clemons, who passed away on October 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Eric Clemons was born to Harold and Nadine Avon Clemons in St. Louis, Missouri on August 1, 1953; he attended East St. Louis public schools; he completed his general studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; he married Roeveina Moore on August 8, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Eric Clemons worked for many established companies over the course of his career, including Peabody Coal, J.B. Hunt, and Davidson Incorporated; and

WHEREAS, After working for others, Eric Clemons focused on his love for truck driving and developed his own trucking business, permitting him to make shipments and deliveries to businesses and large corporations across the United States; and

WHEREAS, After over 20 years of dedicated employment, Eric Clemons retired before quickly realizing that he truly enjoyed what he did; he re-entered the workforce and was then employed by JC Transport, where he remained until he became ill; and

WHEREAS, Eric Clemons was preceded in death by his mother, Nadine Clemons; and

WHEREAS, Eric Clemons is survived by his wife, Roeveina Clemons; his daughter, Sunshine Clemons; his granddaughter, Aria Bender; his stepchildren, Anthony Miller, DeAugenaye Brown, Demarcus Brown, and Aaliyah Hyde; his special step-granddaughter, Armajanaye "Tink" Meaders; his father, Harold (Girthal) Clemons; his siblings, Harolyn (Ellsworth) Neal, Lawrence Clemons, Haralyna (Brian) McGill, Anthony Rich, Carla Rich, Todd Clemons, and Shavawn Blakeney; and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eric Juane "Ricky" Clemons and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eric Clemons as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
