SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roger D. Nevins of Silvis, who passed away on November 10, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Roger Nevins was born to Oliver and Audrey (Stout) Nevins in East Moline on October 11, 1932; he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, serving in the Korean Conflict and spending some time in Japan; he married Joyce Anne Hoyt in Carbon Cliff on December 14, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Roger Nevins worked at International Harvester, John Deere Malleable, and John Deere Harvester, retiring in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Roger Nevins loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and mowing; he also enjoyed coaching his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Roger Nevins was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Calvin Nevins; his daughter-in-law, Karen Nevins; and his sisters, Margaret Davis, Betty Terrant, and Lois Conkle; and

WHEREAS, Roger Nevins is survived by his wife; his son, Larry (Cathy) Nevins; his grandchildren, Candi (Brandon) Buffington, Cori Nevins, Jenna (Ethan) Lardner, and Ben Nevins; his great-grandchildren, Ty, Lindsay, and Jordin; his sister, Beverly Skelton; and his brother, Billy (Barb) Nevins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roger D. Nevins and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roger Nevins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
