SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Donald "Dick" Grawe of Coal Valley, who passed away on July 18, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dick Grawe was born to Irvin and Maggie (Tobin) Grawe in Worthington, Iowa on February 8, 1935; he served in the U.S. Navy; he married Nancy Holman in Yuma, Arizona on February 14, 1955, and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dick Grawe owned and operated Valley Open-Air Market for over 15 years, retiring in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Dick Grawe was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley, Kewanee American Legion Post #31, and Forty and Eight; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the casino; he was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Dick Grawe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his granddaughter, Rebecca Grawe; and his siblings, Dan Grawe and Mary Ann Krantz; and

WHEREAS, Dick Grawe is survived by his children, Diana (Tim) Peterson, Donald Grawe, David (Kay Jones) Grawe, and Debra (Ed) Greif; his grandchildren, Jessie Peterson, Jason (Pam Wantuch) Peterson, Justin (Liz) Peterson, Kristen (Nick) Miller, Mason (Nikki Mills) Grawe, and Courtney Grawe; his great-grandchildren, Ellis, Jackson, Liam, Alexander, Mackenzie, Bailey, Ryan, and Sage; and his sweetheart, Anita Hatalsky; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Donald "Dick" Grawe and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Grawe as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
