SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie Elizabeth "Margie" Caisley of Sacramento, California, who passed away on July 4, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Margie Caisley was born to William and Mary (Burnham) Caisley on July 8, 1976; she graduated from Normal Community High School and completed her bachelor's degree and master's degree in civil engineering at the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Margie Caisley moved to California in 2000 and began working at Northwest Hydraulic Consultants; after the birth of her son, she began work at the State of California Department of Water Resources, eventually transitioning to the Department of Fish & Wildlife, where she provided technical expertise for restoration projects across California; she was a trusted and respected colleague and advocate for salmon, beavers, rivers, and the natural world as a whole; and

WHEREAS, Margie Caisley lived a life full of family, friends, and adventure; she cherished her role as mommy and stepparent and loved her children deeply; she was devoted to her family and continues to be an inspiration to them and to all who knew her; her friends and colleagues created the Margie Caisley Conservation Engineering Endowment Scholarship fund in her honor; and

WHEREAS, Margie Caisley was a skilled pie baker, talented handbell player, avid sailer, intrepid hiker, and a mediocre but enthusiastic skier; her life was filled with kind, wonderful, and loyal friends; she excelled at creating a community and was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, Margie Caisley is survived by her wife, Nicole Oehmke; her former wife, Amanda Bohl, and their children, Bennett and Adelaide Caisley and Octavia, Margaret, and Henry Oehmke; her parents; and her brother, Tom Caisley, his wife, Jeremy, and their daughters, Lena and Allyson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marjorie Elizabeth "Margie" Caisley and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margie Caisley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
