SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James C. Ziel of Rock Island, who passed away on May 29, 2022; and

WHEREAS, James Ziel was born to Harold and Margaret (Douglas) Ziel in Moline on April 1, 1942; he graduated from Rock Island High School and the Greer Technical Institute; he served in the U.S. Air Force; he married Sharron Bedford in Rock Island on June 17, 1966; and

WHEREAS, James Ziel maintained his own business for decades before working for and retiring from Deco Tool Supply; and

WHEREAS, James Ziel was committed to his faith and served in leadership roles at First Evangelical Free Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, James Ziel was known for his ingenuity in solving problems, including being able to fix anything in the house and making the best popcorn; he enjoyed sharing his outdoor hobbies, fishing and geocaching, with family and friends; he will be remembered for his love of others, his friendship, and his mentorship; and

WHEREAS, James Ziel is survived by his wife, Sharron; his children, Cathy (Hank) Vejvoda, Carrie (Chris) Walter, and David (Angie) Ziel; his grandchildren, Grace Vejvoda, Rose Vejvoda, Adeline Vejvoda, Nate Walter, Abbie Walter, and Eli Walter; his siblings, Bill Ziel, Janet (Dennis) Huber, and Mike (Cathy) Bedford; his 10 nieces and nephews; and his church family at First Evangelical Free Church; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James C. Ziel and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Ziel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
