SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James C. Ziel of Rock Island, who
4passed away on May 29, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Ziel was born to Harold and Margaret
6(Douglas) Ziel in Moline on April 1, 1942; he graduated from
7Rock Island High School and the Greer Technical Institute; he
8served in the U.S. Air Force; he married Sharron Bedford in
9Rock Island on June 17, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Ziel maintained his own business for
11decades before working for and retiring from Deco Tool Supply;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Ziel was committed to his faith and served
14in leadership roles at First Evangelical Free Church in
15Moline; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Ziel was known for his ingenuity in solving
17problems, including being able to fix anything in the house
18and making the best popcorn; he enjoyed sharing his outdoor
19hobbies, fishing and geocaching, with family and friends; he
20will be remembered for his love of others, his friendship, and
21his mentorship; and

1    WHEREAS, James Ziel is survived by his wife, Sharron; his
2children, Cathy (Hank) Vejvoda, Carrie (Chris) Walter, and
3David (Angie) Ziel; his grandchildren, Grace Vejvoda, Rose
4Vejvoda, Adeline Vejvoda, Nate Walter, Abbie Walter, and Eli
5Walter; his siblings, Bill Ziel, Janet (Dennis) Huber, and
6Mike (Cathy) Bedford; his 10 nieces and nephews; and his
7church family at First Evangelical Free Church; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11James C. Ziel and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of James Ziel as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
