HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas F. Sheehan of Chicago, who passed away on April 20, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Thomas F. Sheehan was born to Daniel and Catherine (Sullivan) Sheehan on Chicago's West Side on April 4, 1941 and was the second of five children; he was a native of Chicago's Austin neighborhood; as a child, he attended Our Lady Help of Christians and Austin High School; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1968; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sheehan worked as a letter carrier out of the U.S. Post Office in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago; he left the post office for a time, becoming a lead senior auditor for Jewel Food Stores; he returned to the post office as a mail carrier, serving the residents of Oak Park for many years until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sheehan was passionate about service to his faith, to his country, and for others; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sheehan was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and Robert; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Thomas Sheehan was survived by his wife, Carole; his brother, John; his sister, Maryann; his son, Michael (Michelle) Sheehan; his daughter, Laura (John) Broderick; and his grandsons, Dan (Stephanie) and Sean Broderick; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas F. Sheehan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Sheehan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
