SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Max C. Call, formerly of Georgetown, who passed away on April 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Max Call was born to Fred and Dorothy Call in Georgetown on March 14, 1932; during high school, he relocated to Clinton, Indiana, where he excelled at baseball and helped lead the basketball team to the state semifinals in 1949; he earned an athletic scholarship to Wabash College before being drafted to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces on September 16, 1952; he served as an officer of the Military Police (MP) during the Korean War, where he was selected to stand guard at the Truce Talks and the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement; upon returning home, he enrolled at Indiana State University and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees; he married Margaret "Peg" in 1957; and

WHEREAS, Max Call began his teaching career in Perrysville and Cayuga; he spent the majority of his career in Georgetown, where he also coached; he also operated his own insurance and real estate business; and

WHEREAS, Max Call served as chairman of the Vermilion County Board for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Max Call and his wife moved to Texas to be near family last July; and

WHEREAS, Max Call loved relaxing in his backyard, having lighthearted conversations, and enjoying an occasional cigar; he remained physically active his entire life and closely followed his favorite sports teams; and

WHEREAS, Max Call will be remembered for leading a full, productive, and joyful life; and

WHEREAS, Max Call was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Mae Eckhoff; and

WHEREAS, Max Call is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peg; his daughter, Cindy (Bruno) Ejankowski; his son, Clay (Sherry) Call; his grandchildren, Caitlyn (Eric) Iverson, Mariel (Andrew) Miller, and Jacob Call Ejankowski; his great-grandchildren, Alice, Louisa, and Beatrice; and his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Max C. Call and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Max Call as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
