SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Max C. Call, formerly of Georgetown,
4who passed away on April 1, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Max Call was born to Fred and Dorothy Call in
6Georgetown on March 14, 1932; during high school, he relocated
7to Clinton, Indiana, where he excelled at baseball and helped
8lead the basketball team to the state semifinals in 1949; he
9earned an athletic scholarship to Wabash College before being
10drafted to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces on September 16,
111952; he served as an officer of the Military Police (MP)
12during the Korean War, where he was selected to stand guard at
13the Truce Talks and the signing of the Korean Armistice
14Agreement; upon returning home, he enrolled at Indiana State
15University and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees; he
16married Margaret "Peg" in 1957; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Max Call began his teaching career in Perrysville
18and Cayuga; he spent the majority of his career in Georgetown,
19where he also coached; he also operated his own insurance and
20real estate business; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Max Call served as chairman of the Vermilion
22County Board for 10 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Max Call and his wife moved to Texas to be near
2family last July; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Max Call loved relaxing in his backyard, having
4lighthearted conversations, and enjoying an occasional cigar;
5he remained physically active his entire life and closely
6followed his favorite sports teams; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Max Call will be remembered for leading a full,
8productive, and joyful life; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Max Call was preceded in death by his parents and
10his sister, Dorothy Mae Eckhoff; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Max Call is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peg;
12his daughter, Cindy (Bruno) Ejankowski; his son, Clay (Sherry)
13Call; his grandchildren, Caitlyn (Eric) Iverson, Mariel
14(Andrew) Miller, and Jacob Call Ejankowski; his
15great-grandchildren, Alice, Louisa, and Beatrice; and his
16nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Max C. Call and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
20friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Max Call as an expression of our
3deepest sympathy.
