SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stacy Lynn Phillips of Decatur, who passed away on July 2, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was born in Peoria to James W. and Treva C. Wright on April 4, 1976; she graduated from Argenta-Oreana High School in 1994; she married Felipe Phillips on June 13, 1998; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips established a career in customer service; she was employed by APAC, UPS, and the City of Decatur, where she provided exemplary service with every interaction; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was a true coach's wife and basketball mom; always supportive, she did everything she could to ensure that her husband's and son's needs were covered for every sports event; she attended every game in which her basketball family participated and supported her husband, son, and other student-athletes in many additional ways, making meals, creating t-shirts, and serving as a mom for the team; she also served the community by working the concessions at Lanphier High School basketball games; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips committed to her faith at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Peoria; she was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; she had a gift for scrapbooking, and she sold many of her own original creations; she also designed t-shirts for various athletic events and family celebrations; she will be remembered for being strong, sweet, loving, determined, resilient, creative, and beautiful inside and out; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips is survived by her husband, Felipe Phillips; her sons, Marquis (Brittney) Kilburn and Mekhi Phillips; her brothers, James Wright, Cyrus Wright, and Eric (Tracey) Wright; her sisters, Linda (Bill) Morgan, Kimberly Chambers, and Melba (Robert) McNichols; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Phillips; her brother-in-law, Marcus (Brandi) Phillips; her sister-in-law, LaShonda (Mike) Phillips; her 23 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stacy Lynn Phillips and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stacy Phillips as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
