SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Stacy Lynn Phillips of Decatur, who
4passed away on July 2, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was born in Peoria to James W. and
6Treva C. Wright on April 4, 1976; she graduated from
7Argenta-Oreana High School in 1994; she married Felipe
8Phillips on June 13, 1998; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips established a career in customer
10service; she was employed by APAC, UPS, and the City of
11Decatur, where she provided exemplary service with every
12interaction; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips was a true coach's wife and
14basketball mom; always supportive, she did everything she
15could to ensure that her husband's and son's needs were
16covered for every sports event; she attended every game in
17which her basketball family participated and supported her
18husband, son, and other student-athletes in many additional
19ways, making meals, creating t-shirts, and serving as a mom
20for the team; she also served the community by working the
21concessions at Lanphier High School basketball games; and

1    WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips committed to her faith at an early
2age at Zion Baptist Church in Peoria; she was a member of
3Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; she had a gift for
4scrapbooking, and she sold many of her own original creations;
5she also designed t-shirts for various athletic events and
6family celebrations; she will be remembered for being strong,
7sweet, loving, determined, resilient, creative, and beautiful
8inside and out; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Stacy Phillips is survived by her husband, Felipe
10Phillips; her sons, Marquis (Brittney) Kilburn and Mekhi
11Phillips; her brothers, James Wright, Cyrus Wright, and Eric
12(Tracey) Wright; her sisters, Linda (Bill) Morgan, Kimberly
13Chambers, and Melba (Robert) McNichols; her father-in-law and
14mother-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Phillips; her
15brother-in-law, Marcus (Brandi) Phillips; her sister-in-law,
16LaShonda (Mike) Phillips; her 23 nieces and nephews; and a
17host of cousins and friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Stacy Lynn Phillips and extend our sincere condolences to her
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
22further
 
23    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
