SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Woodbridge C. "Woody" Brown of East Moline, who passed away on August 21, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Woody Brown was born to Elmer and Emma (Ashford) Brown in Mt. Morris, Michigan on September 15, 1929; he obtained his bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1954; he received his master's degree in Research and Development Management from Florida State University; he earned his doctorate in Occupational Education from North Carolina State University; he served in the U.S. Army; he married LaVera "Joy" Hollenbeck, and she preceded him in death in 1997; he then married Daphne Frane in East Moline on May 1, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Woody Brown was employed by General Dynamics and NASA at the Space Center in Florida, Appalachian State University, and the North Carolina College System; he retired from the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Woody Brown was a member of Iota Lambda Sigma and the Kansas City Society of Manufacturing Engineers, where he served as chairman in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Woody Brown was preceded in death by his brother, Howard "Howie" Brown; and

WHEREAS, Woody Brown is survived by his wife, Daphne; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Woodbridge C. "Woody" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Woody Brown as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
