SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dr. Woodbridge C. "Woody" Brown of
4East Moline, who passed away on August 21, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Woody Brown was born to Elmer and Emma (Ashford)
6Brown in Mt. Morris, Michigan on September 15, 1929; he
7obtained his bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering
8from Iowa State University in 1954; he received his master's
9degree in Research and Development Management from Florida
10State University; he earned his doctorate in Occupational
11Education from North Carolina State University; he served in
12the U.S. Army; he married LaVera "Joy" Hollenbeck, and she
13preceded him in death in 1997; he then married Daphne Frane in
14East Moline on May 1, 1999; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Woody Brown was employed by General Dynamics and
16NASA at the Space Center in Florida, Appalachian State
17University, and the North Carolina College System; he retired
18from the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg,
19Missouri; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Woody Brown was a member of Iota Lambda Sigma and
21the Kansas City Society of Manufacturing Engineers, where he
22served as chairman in 1984; and

1    WHEREAS, Woody Brown was preceded in death by his brother,
2Howard "Howie" Brown; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Woody Brown is survived by his wife, Daphne;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Dr. Woodbridge C. "Woody" Brown and extend our sincere
8condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Woody Brown as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
