SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary E. Schueler, who passed away on May 29, 2019 at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, Mary (Landers) Schueler was born on October 1, 1933 to Rose and Frank Landers and grew up in Hillside; she attended Proviso East High School, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Robert Schueler; the two often went on dates to Russell's BBQ in Elmwood Park; they were married for 68 years, and Mary was a dedicated, hard-working, stay-at-home mom and wife; and

WHEREAS, Mary Schueler's kindness was unmatched, as she always made sure everyone was happy and full of food; she was known for her infectious laugh and for making amazing chocolates and other desserts, particularly her famous "Jello cars"; she loved a good game of poker and had a green thumb for growing beautiful orchids and tomatoes; and

WHEREAS, Mary Schueler was the beloved mother of Robert Jr. and Lynda and supported their aspirations and the start of their careers by providing child care for her grandchildren, who saw her as grandmother, guardian, and teacher; she extended her care giving to other people's children, instilling in them the need to be loving and respectful to everyone they met; and

WHEREAS, Mary Schueler was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Landers; and

WHEREAS, Mary Schueler is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children, Robert Jr. (Brenda) and Lynda (Steven); her grandchildren, Alexander, Ariana, Campbell, and Dryden; and her siblings, Frank, John, and Donna; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary E. Schueler and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Schueler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
