SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Andrea Stoudemire of Chicago, who passed away on July 26, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Stoudemire was born on the South Side of Chicago on August 23, 1983; she graduated from South Shore High School; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Stoudemire worked several jobs to provide for her family and found the career of her dreams in the customer service field; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Stoudemire was a member of Mothers Against Senseless Killings (MASK), a group that was formed in 2015 after three women were shot, one fatally, near the same street corner in the Englewood neighborhood; she devoted the last two years of her life to fighting gun violence on the streets of Englewood; she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, cooking, and traveling with her fiance; she cherished her role as a mother; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Stoudemire was preceded in death by her mother, Danita Stoudemire; her father, Mr. Young; and her grandmother, Joanne Stoudemire; and

WHEREAS, Andrea Stoudemire is survived by her fiance, Dejuan Williams; her daughter, Brinity Johnson; her sons, Micheal Johnson and Pierre Brown; her aunts, Carolyn Thornton and Yvonne Thornton; her uncle, Charles Stoudemire; and many cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Andrea Stoudemire and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Andrea Stoudemire as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
