Message From The - The need for improved training to avoid JURISDICTION AND INDEPENDENCE ________________________________________________________ The role of the Legislative Inspector General (LIG) is two-fold: 1. Investigate allegations of misconduct by legislators and other legislative branch personnel, including prohibited political conduct, ethics violations, fraud abuse, and sexual harassment. 2. Oversee ethics and sexual harassment prevention training of legislators and other legislative branch personnel. The jurisdiction and authorities of the LIG are governed by the Illinois State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (5 ILCS 430); particularly Section 25-10 and 25-20.
