Amend House Bill 2845 by replacing 3 the title with the following: 4 "AN ACT concerning police officers."; and 5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 6 following: 7 "Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended 8 by changing Section 3 as follows: 9 (50 ILCS 705/3) (from Ch. 85, par. 503) 10 Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure - 11 vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 1918members 12 selected as follows: The Attorney General of the State of 13 Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of 14 Corrections, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police 15 Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Director of the 16 Illinois Police Training Institute, the Special Agent in 17 Charge of the Springfield, Illinois, division of the Federal 18 Bureau of Investigation, the Executive Director of the 19 Illinois Board of Higher Education and the following to be 20 appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of 21 Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois county sheriffs from -2- LRB9202405RCdvam01 1 counties other than Cook County, 2 managers of Illinois 2 municipalities, 3 chiefs of municipal police departments in 3 Illinois having no Superintendent of the Police Department on 4 the Board and 2 citizens of Illinois who shall be members of 5 an organized enforcement officers' association which has no 6 other members on the Board other than the chief of a 7 municipal police department, the Special Agent of the Federal 8 Bureau of Investigation, the Director of State Police, a 9 county sheriff or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the 10 Governor shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 11 with 3 of the appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 12 for 2 years, and 3 for 3 years. Their successors shall be 13 appointed in like manner for terms to expire the first Monday 14 of August each 3 years thereafter. All members shall serve 15 until their respective successors are appointed and qualify. 16 Vacancies shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired 17 terms. 18 (Source: P.A. 88-586, eff. 8-12-94.)".
