1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 727
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 727, on page 1,
3 line 8, by replacing "The" with the following:
4 "Cost and expense; commissary fund.
5 (a) The"; and
6 on page 1, by inserting between lines 26 and 27 the
7 following:
8 "(b) When a prisoner is released from the county jail
9 after the completion of his or her sentence and has money
10 credited to his or her account in the commissary fund, the
11 sheriff or a person acting on the authority of the sheriff
12 must mail a check in the amount credited to the prisoner's
13 account to the prisoner's last known address. If after 30
14 days from the date of mailing of the check, the check is
15 returned undelivered, the sheriff must transmit the amount of
16 the check to the county treasurer for deposit into the
17 commissary fund. Nothing in this subsection (b) constitutes
18 a forfeiture of the prisoner's right to claim the money
19 accredited to his or her account after the 30-day period.".
