SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Brendan Farrell of Oak Park, who
4passed away on October 21, 2022 at the age of 26; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell was born in Oak Park to Mary
6Alice (Gibbons) Farrell and Shaun T. Farrell on October 4,
71996; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell lived a very rich life in Oak
9Park, and, due to an autism diagnosis, he received an out of
10district placement at Giant Steps, a day school located in
11Lisle; during his academic journey, he was supported
12immeasurably by District 97 and District 200; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell spent his life in Oak Park
14enjoying summers at the pools and riding around town on his
15adult tricycle; he especially loved his Friday visits to the
16library, trips to the conservatory to see the fish, and rides
17to the main fire station; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell was sweet, gentle, happy, goofy,
19loving, and affectionate; though he was nonverbal, he
20developed brilliant and memorable ways of communicating with
21clarity and compassion; and

1    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell touched the lives of many people,
2and these friends contributed to the brightness and fullness
3of his life; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell attended Giant Steps from
5kindergarten until his graduation at age twenty-two, and he
6then enjoyed their adult day program, Canopy; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell had a strong bond and special
8friendship with his maternal grandmother, the late Beatrice
9Gibbons; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Brendan Farrell is survived by his mother, Mary;
11his father, Shaun; his brothers, Jack and Kevin; his
12stepmother, Annmarie Dore; his grandma, Pat Farrell; and his
13aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom had a special place in
14their hearts for him; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Brendan Farrell and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
