SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Hormaz Minoocher Vania, who passed
4away on March 3, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania, the son of Minoocher and Manijeh
6Vania, was born on December 24, 1934; he attended Coyne
7Electrical School in Chicago; he received a bachelor's degree
8in electrical and mechanical engineering from Indiana
9Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana; he earned a
10Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Southern
11Illinois University Carbondale; he also studied music at
12Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) and Sangamon State
13University, known today as the University of Illinois
14Springfield (UIS); and
 
15    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania founded Vania Engineering, Inc. in
161967, where he served as president and principal electrical,
17mechanical, and environmental professional engineer; his
18company undertook a number of noteworthy projects, including
19working on the Lincoln Tomb, the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices,
20LLCC, and UIS; he also taught engineering at LLCC and UIS; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania and his wife, Yasmin H. Vania, were
22founders and members of the Zoroastrian Association of

1Metropolitan Chicago, founding members of the World
2Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce (WZCC), and observers to the
3drafting of the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of
4North America (FEZANA) constitution; they were also donors to
5the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania was a Master Mason of Tyrian Masonic
7Lodge #333, and he was the recipient of its 50 Years of
8Faithful Service Award; he was a founder of Springfield's
9Ethnic Festival and various Asian and Indian Associations; he
10was an honorary life member of the National Republican Party;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania was a skilled accordion and piano
13player who delighted many with his passion for music; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania was always cheerful and had an
15unending sense of humor; he will be remembered as a noble,
16gracious, brilliant, and caring person; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania was preceded in death by his
18brother, Rustom Vania, and his sister-in-law, Gulzarine Vania;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Hormaz Vania is survived by his wife; his
21children, Natalie, Ivan, and Rustomji; his brother, Luke

1(Ginny) Vania; his sister, Kamal R. (Rohinton) Tengra; his
2son-in-law, Rusi D. Gandhi; his daughter-in-law, Crystal
3Vania; and his granddaughter, Asha R. Gandhi; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Hormaz Minoocher Vania and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Hormaz Vania as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
