SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Diane Bond of Decatur, who passed away
4on March 31, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Diane Bond was born to Jonas and Annie (Currie)
6Bond in Brownsville, Tennessee on October 14, 1953; at the age
7of two, she and her family relocated to Decatur, where she
8resided for the rest of her life; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Diane Bond worked as a valued employee of
10Firestone for over 20 years; over the course of her career, she
11was noted for her unwavering dedication, work ethic, and
12loyalty; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Diane Bond committed to her faith at an early
14age, becoming a charter member of Church of the Living God
15Temple #1; she later became a devoted member of Main Street
16Church of Decatur, where she served as head greeter and vice
17president of the Usher Board; she also co-founded the church's
1850 and older group and was involved in its Mission Ministry and
19the grandparent program, Youth With a Positive Direction; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Diane Bond loved engaging in heartfelt
21conversations over the phone, connecting with loved ones near

1and far, and delighted in shopping adventures with her niece,
2Shaquita; she also enjoyed spending time at the YMCA and
3attending meals with friends from the Every Other Friday
4Dinner Crew; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Diane Bond was the matriarch of the Bond family,
6serving as a beacon of support and encouragement and never
7missing an event, game, graduation, or celebration of her
8loved ones; her warm and welcoming nature created a safe haven
9for all who knew her; she touched the lives of many, and she
10will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love,
11and selfless service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Diane Bond was preceded in death by her parents;
13her sisters, Willen (David) Kennedy, Mary (George) Ross,
14Lorine Bond, Annie (Bessie) Bond, Josie Bond, and Georgia
15Green; her brothers, John (Linnie Rose) Bond, Jimmie (Irene)
16Bond, Bobby Bond, Charlie T. (Juanita) Bond, Albert Bond,
17Sylvester Bond, James Bond, and Roger Walker Jr.; and her
18nephew, Lamon Bond; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Diane Bond is survived by her daughters, Martina
20Bond and Shannon Bond Joyner; her grandchildren, Javaughn
21Rivers, Amaris Joyner, Tristian Joyner, and MaCarlon Young;
22her great-grandchildren, Kingston, Kannon, and Logan; her
23sister-in-law, Mary Bond; her godsiblings, Dr. Thomas

1(Margaret) Walker, Arthur Lee (Terri) Walker, and Hilda
2Walker; her special cousins, Clara Clark and Mildred Taylor;
3her special sisters, Concetta Guyse, Velma Pryor, Rachael
4Penermann, and Carol Estes; a host of cousins; her Main Street
5Church family; and a multitude of friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Diane Bond and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
9friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Diane Bond as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
