SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marcia Lynn Morrison of Springfield, who passed away on February 29, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison was born to Earnest and Ursula Morrison on April 28, 1965; she graduated from Riverton High School; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison worked for Riverton Community School District #14 and First Student, Inc. as a bus driver; her career included shuttling visitors and athletes to and from various venues during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison volunteered for various organizations, including the Special Olympics, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), and the Illinois State Fair Parade; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison enjoyed playing softball and later served as an umpire; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison will be remembered for always helping others in any way possible; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Chris Godefroid; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and

WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison is survived by her son, Britten; her friend, Tristan; her siblings, Terry (Peggy), Jerry (Rod Nash), Denny (Gina), Kenny (Kristy), and Kathy (Chris) Godefroid; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marcia Lynn Morrison and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marcia Morrison as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
