SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald L. Barnett of Canton, who passed away on February 11, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was born to Charles and Nellie (Werry) Barnett in Canton on September 7, 1937; he served as an air policeman in the U.S. Air Force, and he was stationed at the McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas; he married Frances Swise in Phoenix, Arizona on April 4, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Donald Barnett retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was skilled in constructing miniature model houses and buildings of places of interest; he enjoyed telling stories and jokes to his friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Donald Barnett was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his children, Donnie Barnett and Linda Barnett; and his grandchild, Elizabeth; and

WHEREAS, Donald Barnett is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Joe "Mike") Putman, and his grandson, Matthew Putman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald L. Barnett and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Barnett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
