SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry Styninger of Canton, who passed away on August 24, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Styninger was born on December 27, 1942; he served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Styninger worked for International Harvester for 30 years and retired from the Ohio Truck Plant; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Styninger was influential in forming the underwater search and rescue team for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Styninger enjoyed going on vacations in his motor home with his wife, Carol, hiking, and walking; he walked the Appellation Trail twice and hiked in Alaska seven times; he also ran more than 20 marathons in Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Styninger lived the simple life and was a father, son, husband, brother, and brother-in-law; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerry Styninger and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Styninger as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
