SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul A. Schneider Sr. of Joliet, who passed away on April 16, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider was born to Michael and Shirley (Nink) Schneider in Joliet on November 3, 1934; he graduated from St. John the Baptist Grade School and Joliet Township High School; he served in the U.S. Navy; he married Concetta "Connie" Albert on November 3, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider was known as "Joliet's Door Man", operating Paul A. Schneider Co., Garage Doors & Electric Openers in Joliet from 1972 to 1993; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Paul Schneider and Connie traveled around the country in their RV for two years before settling in Florida; they returned to Joliet to be nearer to family in 2008; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider was ordained as a lay deacon for the Joliet Diocese in 1988; he served at St. John the Baptist and Holy Family Parishes in Joliet, and he additionally served at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Clermont, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider had several passions, including taking his family on incredible adventures around the country and abroad, photography, flying his airplanes, and his faith; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Norma Jean Gage; and his brother, Richard J. Gage; and

WHEREAS, Paul Schneider is survived by his wife of 66 years, Connie; his children, Paul (Linda) Schneider Jr., Jean (Matt) Collins, Janet (William) Buss, and Michael (Carol) Schneider; his 12 grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren, with three more arriving this fall; his sister, Marilyn (Dr. Thomas) Price; his brother-in-law, Jack Albert; his sister-in-law, Norma Gage; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul A. Schneider Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Schneider as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
