SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Cynthia Ann "Cindy G" (Schuler) Gavilsky,
4who passed away on July 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky was born and raised in Granite
6City; she earned her first master's degree in alternative and
7special education from Western Illinois University; she later
8earned two additional master's degrees in counseling and
9education administration; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky worked at Coordinated Youth &
11Human Services, where she dedicated 34 years and served as
12executive director; she was instrumental in establishing the
13Billie's Kids Christmas celebration for families in need; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky gave back to her community by
15serving on countless committees and boards, including the
16Rotary Club, where she was an active member and served as past
17president; she was also a board member of the Granite City Area
18Community Foundation, the Granite City Hall of Fame Committee,
19the Madison-Bond Workforce Innovation Board, and numerous
20others; she was a proud Catholic and loved praying the rosary
21daily; as a leader in her community, she always found ways to
22positively impact and improve the lives of those around her;

1her major source of pride was her family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky was preceded in death by her
3mother, Billie Lanham Schuler; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky is survived by her husband,
5Lawrence J. Gavilsky; her children, Jamie Gavilsky, Emily (Joel
6Rahn) Gavilsky, and Tessa (Frank) Florio; her father, Paul
7Schuler; her brothers, Allan (Diane), Fred (Lisa), and Joe
8(Jamie) Schuler; her sisters, Paula (Dale) Hubbard, Cathy
9(Daniel) Dummerth, and Terry (Eric) Mitchell; and many nieces,
10nephews, and cousin; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Cynthia Ann "Cindy G" (Schuler) Gavilsky and extend our sincere
14condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Cynthia Gavilsky as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
