SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia Lee "Ginny" Barker Dunn of
4Carmel, California, who passed away on April 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ginny Dunn was born on January 20, 1922; she
6married Frank L. Harper in Kansas City, Missouri in 1940, and
7they moved to California and lived in Toluca Lake, where her
8interest in golf began; they later divorced; she married First
9Lt. Morgan Evans on October 19, 1945 in California, and they
10moved to Bloomington-Normal; he preceded her in death after
11more than 48 years of marriage; she later married Richard Dunn
12on December 29, 1987, and he preceded her in death after 33
13years of marriage; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ginny Dunn served as an American Red Cross
15volunteer in Long Beach, California during World War II; after
16moving to Bloomington-Normal, her social interests revolved
17around family, friends, and golf; her innate talent and
18interest in fashion and design led her to a career as a buyer
19coordinator; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ginny Dunn was a club, intercity, and Central
21Illinois golf champion; she enjoyed good literature and
22planning social activities, including croquet tournaments for

1family and friends; while living in Del Mesa Carmel, she served
2as chair of the House Committee and was recognized as the
3Outstanding Del Mesan of the Year in 2007; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ginny Dunn was preceded in death by her daughter,
5Vicky Lynn Harper; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ginny Dunn is survived by her son, Peter B.
7(Stacey) Evans and their sons, Morgan and Peter J. Evans; her
8grandson, Taur (Ilse) Kiggins and their son, Ja'el; her
9granddaughters, Sequoia Livingston and Victoria Livingston
10Rankin; and her many nephews and nieces, including Catie Woods,
11with whom she was particularly close; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Virginia Lee "Ginny" Barker Dunn and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ginny Dunn as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
