SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jane Christie Johnson of Oak Park, who passed away on July 14, 2020 at the age of 101; and

WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was born to Axel and Ruby Anderson on July 29, 1918; and

WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was an active member in her community and constantly volunteered her time at West Suburban Hospital, as a den mother for the local Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops, and as the treasurer of the Nineteenth Century Club; she organized bake sales at her local parish and monthly birthday celebrations for community members; she also hosted college-age foreign students in her Oak Park home while they studied English; and

WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was hospitable and supportive to friends and strangers alike; she was known for her infectious energy and sparkle and enjoyed teaching neighborhood children about baking cookies, cakes, and pies as the "queen of pie crusts"; she loved to travel with her husband and family, and they explored a variety of places, including Greece, Alaska, the Bahamas, Italy, Ireland, and Paris; and

WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Johnson, and her eight siblings and their spouses; and

WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was the mother of Alan (Martie McMane), Curt (Sharyn), Jan Kelley, and Karen (Ali) Nimrouzi; the grandmother of Darrell (Marciel) Rikert, Sohrob Nimrouzi, Knowl Johnson (Shirley Tephly), Sahar (Jake) Hartsock, and Ramine Nimrouzi; the great-grandmother of Auden Hartsock, Emory Rikert, and Madden Hartsock; and the aunt to many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jane Christie Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jane Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
