SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Valli Rebecca Montgomery Tolleson of Gurnee, who passed away on April 28, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson was born in Waukegan to Gladys Marian (Humbert) and John "Jack" Robert Montgomery on July 25, 1945; she attended Whittier Elementary School and Daniel Webster Secondary School; she graduated from Waukegan High School in 1963; she married John Carroll Tolleson in Waukegan at the Post Chapel, U.S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes on October 19, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson worked as a teller at the First National Bank in Waukegan; she then began a long and successful career at Abbott Laboratories; she retired from Abbott after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson had a love for embroidery work; she also enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends, and traveling, especially to England, Scotland, and Wales; she enjoyed visiting the farm in Waldwick, Wisconsin, where her mother was raised, and attending the Cornish festival in Mineral Point, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson had a great sense of humor; she was a wonderful hostess and had some of the best gatherings during holidays for family and friends; her Fourth of July parties were some of the finest; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Gerald Edgar Tolleson; and

WHEREAS, Valli Tolleson is survived by her husband of over 50 years, John; her brother, Robert Bruce (Beverly "Bev") Montgomery; her brother-in-law, Donald William (Barbara) Tolleson; her niece, Kari Ann Montgomery; her niece, Lisa Marie Montgomery; her niece, Shannon Cassondra Tolleson; her cousin, Jack Terrill Humbert; her miniature Dachshunds, Guinness and Lacy; and numerous close family friends and their families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Valli Rebecca Montgomery Tolleson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Valli Tolleson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
