SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bernard J. "Bernie" Hickey of Edelstein, who passed away on March 10, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Hickey was born to John and Helen (Fuertges) Hickey on January 6, 1942; he graduated from Bradford High School and St. Ambrose College; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Hickey was employed at Camp Grove State Bank; he retired in 1990 as executive vice president; he continued to serve as the bank's chairman of the board of directors; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Hickey was an active and involved member of the Peoria Chapter of the ACLU; he was also a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Hickey was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Philip; and

WHEREAS, Bernie Hickey is survived by his siblings, Denny (Val), Jim (Peg), Rosemary (Hank) Welch, and Kathy (Dan) Czarniewski; his sister-in-law, Mary Hickey; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bernard J. "Bernie" Hickey and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bernie Hickey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
