SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph "Joe" A. Castro of Moline, who
4passed away on April 7, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Castro was born to Joseph A. and Jessie
6(Delgado) Castro in Bettendorf, Iowa on November 1, 1934; he
7married Carmen R. Morales in Moline on October 22, 1957; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a U.S. Army veteran; he worked at
9Western-Southern Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1990
10after 30 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a member of American Legion Post
12227, East Moline; he enjoyed weight lifting, volleyball,
13golfing, serving in the Honor Guard, playing his harmonica, and
14listening to Mexican music; he was an avid Chicago sports fan
15and was overjoyed to see his Cubs win the World Series in 2016;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a good man; he was kind and caring
18and was loved and respected by many, especially his children;
19he was very firm in his faith and beliefs and loved his
20children and family; and

1    WHEREAS, Joe Castro was preceded in death by his daughter,
2Andrea; his sisters, Mary Ellen Ortiz, Lupe Herrera, and
3Charlotte Castro; and his brothers, David Castro, Pete Castro,
4and Richard Castro; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Castro is survived by his wife, Carmen; his
6children, Bob (Julianna) Castro, Jon (Krista) Castro, and Lisa
7(Lance) Van Fossen; his sisters, Irma Ahlgren and Ernestine
8Ortiz; his brother, Paul (Sue) Castro, his 11 grandchildren;
9and his 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joseph A. Castro and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joe Castro as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
