SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard L. "Dick" Taylor of Rantoul, who
4passed away on July 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was born in Carbondale to Leonard
6and Doris Taylor on March 12, 1939; he graduated from Fisher
7Grade School in 1953 and Rantoul Township High School in 1957;
8he received his bachelor's degree in education from Southern
9Illinois University Carbondale in 1961 and was proud to be a
10Saluki; he earned a master's degree from the University of
11Illinois; he then received a specialist degree in school
12administration from the University of Illinois; he married
13Carolyn Kaler at St. Malachy Catholic Church on August 27,
141960; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was a teacher, coach, and school
16administrator; he worked at many schools, but spent the
17majority of his career in the Rantoul and Fisher school
18districts; he loved all sports, but high school sports had a
19special place in his heart; he was passionate about learning
20and a dedicated educator; in the years after his retirement, he
21looked for better ways to work with children and help them
22reach their potential; he kept a stack of books next to his
23chair and notebooks filled with ideas and inspiration; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor also had a passion for travel; he
2kept an atlas nearby and planned many trips; some of his
3family's dearest memories resulted from these plans; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor passed many gifts on to his
5children and grandchildren; the most treasured gift was his
6ability to fight through adversity and never give up; he
7demonstrated this characteristic daily; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was preceded in death by his
9parents; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Marlene Remington; his
10grandson, Luke Kaler Remington; and his sisters-in-law,
11Margaret Anne (Jack) Herbert, Marlene (Jim) Micheletti, Kay
12(Bob) Neitzel, and Jane Anderson; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Taylor is survived by his wife, Carolyn;
14his sons, Michael (Theresa) Taylor, Mark (Stacey) Taylor, and
15Sean (Lisa) Taylor; his daughter, Erin (Brian) Remington; his
16grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Casey, Samantha, Shelby, Karly,
17Conor, Whitney, Kyle, Cory, and Brendan; and his
18step-grandchildren, Shawna (Troy) Jameson, Dustin (Emily)
19Remington, and Ashley (Jacob) Pruiett; his
20step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Shelby, Tristan, Ames,
21Abe, Hadley, Kade, and Adalynn; his sisters Sharon (Dean)
22Stevens and Vicki (Jim) Smith; his sister-in-law Hanora Kaler;

1and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Richard L. Taylor, and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Richard L. Taylor as an expression
9of our deepest sympathy.
