SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald L. "Ron" Modrich of Huntley, who passed away on August 4, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich was born in Chicago to Jack and Martha (Ides) Modrich on February 17, 1939; he served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant; he married Judy Hubbard at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake on August 22, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich started the first Crystal Lake Ambulance Service in 1971 and served as the first chief, holding the distinction of being one of the first EMTs in Illinois; he opened Ron's Tire and Service Station in November of 1977 in Crystal Lake, which is still operated by his son; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich loved to watch his son, Rick, race at the Geneva Raceway, and soon became part of the action when he brought his tow truck to the track, becoming known as "Wrecker Ron"; his greatest joy was his family, especially watching his grandchildren in their various sporting events and activities and visiting his daughter and family in Florida; his other interests included the selling of race track safety communication equipment to the race teams, and the building, repairing, and selling of computers, as well as installing complete office systems; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Crystal Lake and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Knights of Columbus Council #10678; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley; and his brother-in-law, Robert Richards; and

WHEREAS, Ron Modrich is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Janice (Brad) Price; his son, Rick (Lisa) Modrich; his grandchildren, Ashley (Dominick) Lucarelli, Dylan Sowers, and Ben and Cole Modrich; his sister, Marty Richards; and his brothers, Eugene, twin brother Robert (Nancy), and Dennis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald L. "Ron" Modrich, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ron Modrich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
