SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward A. C. Streed of Waukegan, who passed away on May 28, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Edward Streed was born in Waukegan to Edwin and Elizabeth Streed on May 17, 1928; he attended Glen Flora Elementary School and Waukegan Township High School; he served in the United States Air Force as a meteorologist in Alaska, retiring with the rank of major; he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois; he married Mary Frances Patterson in Indianapolis in 1957; and

WHEREAS, Edward Streed worked for the Lake County Highway Department for 32 years, 12 of which he served as superintendent; and

WHEREAS, Edward Streed was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan; his pastimes included playing golf at the Bonnie Brook Golf Course, playing handball at the YMCA, and amateur photography; he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his family was his greatest joy; and

WHEREAS, Edward Streed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Klema; and

WHEREAS, Edward Streed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Fran; his children, Karen Streed, Laurie (Daniel) Coad, Sara (Jeff) Dick, and Jim (Chris) Streed; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Jack Patterson; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward A. C. Streed, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Streed as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
