SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Lee Rayburn of Bondville, who passed
4away on April 30, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rayburn was born near Bondville to J. W. and
6Ethel Pfiester Rayburn on November 22, 1921; he married Betty
7Jean Hammerschmidt in Monticello on November 19, 1944; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Rayburn farmed in the Bondville area until
9his retirement in 2004; he raised purebred Hampshire swine for
10over 60 years; he was swine superintendent at the Champaign
11County Fair for 25 years and was head of the swine carcass show
12and sale for 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Rayburn served as a Scott Township trustee
14for 28 years and as a drainage district commissioner; he served
15as a Trustee for the Bondville United Methodist Church and on
16various church boards; for the past 60 years, he was either a
17Bondville Fire Corporation volunteer fireman or a trustee on
18the board; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Rayburn was preceded in death by his wife,
20Betty Jean; and

1    WHEREAS, John Rayburn is survived by his daughters, Sandra
2(Jim) Black and Shirley (Paul) Berbaum; his grandchildren, Gina
3Grant, Jamie Black, Joy Black, Tricia Anderson, and Jon
4Berbaum; eighteen great-grandchildren; two
5great-great-grandchildren; his beloved friend and companion,
6Pat Meriedth; and his sister, Mary Wood; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9John Lee Rayburn, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John Rayburn as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
