SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin E. Bauer of McHenry, who passed away on February 21, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Bauer was born in Ringwood to Edward and Olivia (Kattner) Bauer on July 21, 1938; he graduated from McHenry East High School in 1956; he was a member of the Army Reserve; he married Kathryn Hiller at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg on August 19, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Bauer was employed as a carpenter at George Hiller and Son for over 30 years; he also owned his own business, Custom Cabinets by Marv; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Bauer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry, where he was an usher for many years; he was a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, where he was a Legion of Honor member and recording secretary; he coached for the McHenry Baseball Association for many years; his grandchildren meant the world to him, and he never missed a single sporting event; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Bauer was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Henry and Lorraine Hiller; his brothers, Urban, Roland, Warren, and George Bauer; and his nephews, Randy and Gordon Bauer; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Bauer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn; his children, Debbie (Rich) Miller, David (Liane) Bauer, and Jill (Mark) Majercik; his grandchildren, Kristen (Korey), Meagan, Jennifer, Olivia, Jack, Allie, Casie, and Carlie; his sisters, Lu Ann (Harry) Smith and Joan (Chuck) Miller; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bauer and Georgia Bauer; his devoted caregiver, Kateryna Garkava; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marvin E. Bauer and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin Bauer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
