SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James "Jim" F. Leach of Chesterfield, who passed away on February 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Jim Leach was born in Chesterfield to Howard A. and Anna May (Rigsbey) Leach on July 8, 1934; he graduated from Carlinville High School in 1952 and attended the University of Illinois for two years; he proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959; he married Karen Stahl in Palmyra on April 29, 1972; and

WHEREAS, Jim Leach farmed in Chesterfield with his father and uncle and retired in 2008; he then enjoyed his paper route and delivered the Alton Telegraph for over ten years; and

WHEREAS, Jim Leach enjoyed camping, gardening, watching Western movies, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals; he was also loyal to all of the sports teams at the University of Illinois and followed them with great enthusiasm; and

WHEREAS, Jim Leach was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert A. Leach; and

WHEREAS, Jim Leach is survived by his wife, Karen; and his daughters, Stephanie (Chris) Edwards and Marcie (Steve) Adams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James F. "Jim" Leach and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Leach as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
