SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William G. "Bill" Hansen of Richmond, who
4passed away on November 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was born in rural Hebron to Lawrence
6and Hilma (Anderson) Hansen on March 14, 1937; his family moved
7to a farm near Richmond when he was nine and he attended school
8in Hebron, graduating from Alden-Hebron High School in 1955; he
9was a member of the junior varsity basketball team when the
10Hebron Giants won the state championship; he was a member of
114-H, the baseball team, the student council, the yearbook
12staff, and the Future Farmers of America both as a member and
13president; he was crowned junior prom king in 1954; he married
14Carol Mae Hoffman at Genoa City, Wisconsin on February 10,
151973; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen attended the University of Illinois,
17taking courses in farming; he farmed in the area all his life;
18he was a member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau and looked
19forward to the times he cooked hamburgers at the fair for the
20Farm Bureau Food Stand; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears
22and Cubs; he bowled "with the guys" in Zenda, Wisconsin for

1many years, and later with his wife in a couple's league, The
2Sunday Happy Mixers, who were mostly farmers; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was preceded in death by his parents;
4his sister, Ardella (Glen) Spooner; and his brothers, Lawrence
5Junior and Richard (Carol) Hansen; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Hansen is survived by his wife, Carol; his
7sons, William L. (Sasha Zolnowsky) and their sons, Brady and
8Cooper, and Daniel (Cori Svitak) and their sons, Hunter, Max,
9Levi, and Lucas; his sister, Virginia (Roger) Bottlemy; his
10sister-in-law, Carol June Hansen (Tony) DeMarco; his
11brother-in-law, David (Susan) Hoffman; and four nieces and
12eight nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15William G. "Bill" Hansen, and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bill Hansen as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
