HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Oliver Alexander of Chicago Heights, who passed away on April 9, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander graduated from Bloom High School and Grambling State University, where he played football; he was married to Betty, and they had two children; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was an educator and also worked for the government of Bloom Township; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a dedicated public servant; he served on the Bloom Township District #206 Board of Education, where he was President, as a Trustee for Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, as an Alderman for the Third Ward in the City of Chicago Heights, and as a member of the CEDA Board; he also served as the Supervisor of the Work Program for Bloom Township government; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a Chicago Heights "trail blazer" for the annual Black History Month recognition; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Alexander was a Deacon at Christ Temple #1 Church in the east side neighborhood of Chicago Heights; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Oliver Alexander and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Oliver Alexander as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
