HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate both the seventh and eighth grade girls volleyball teams from Hartsburg-Emden Junior High School, the Lady Stags, on winning both the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 7-1A and 8-1A State Championships respectively; and

WHEREAS, The seventh grade Lady Stags won their third state championship in three years by defeating Grayville in two sets by a score of 25-13 and 25-15 in Decatur on March 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The eighth grade Lady Stags won their seventh state championship in a row and also defeated Grayville in two sets with a score of 25-23 and 25-23 in Moweaqua on March 17, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Both Lady Stags teams are led by Head Coach Jennifer Hayes, who has coached at the junior high level for 25 years and has won 28 titles in junior high and one state title in high school; Assistant Coaches are Sami Pershal, Jordan Detmers, Ivy Merz, and Abby Horebort; the Manager is Morgan Riggs; and

WHEREAS, The seventh grade Lady Stags are Kylie Starcivic, Violet Merz, Lily Barry, Avery Rohlfs, Zoe Miller, Cloee O'Donoghue, Cassie Crabtree, Abby Montgomery, Dani Phillips, Lorissa Riggs, Emma Cordray, Hope Griffieth, Sadie Williams, Addie Beekman, and Izzy Cox; and

WHEREAS, The eight grade Lady Stags are Violet Merz, Lily Barry, Cloee O'Donoghue, Allison Wollard, Cassie Crabtree, Abby Montgomery, Dani Phillips, Hope Griffieth, Jenna Benner, Addie Beekman, and Izzy Cox; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate both the seventh and eighth grade girls volleyball teams from Hartsburg-Emden on winning their respective Illinois Elementary School Association Class 7-1A and 8-1A State Championships, and we admire their extensive record of success and hope it continues far into the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lady Stags and their coaches as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
