HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize John Moore for his service in
4the United States Air Force and congratulate him on
5participating in an Honor Flight; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit network of
7organizations created to honor American veterans with a
8one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C. to visit war
9memorials; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Moore was born in Raymond, Mississippi on
11October 25, 1925; he was drafted into the United States Air
12Force in March of 1944; after passing the necessary
13examinations, he reported to a base in Georgia and then
14received his basic training in Biloxi, Mississippi; he later
15reported to Nebraska, and his final assignment was in Colorado,
16where he spent most of his time until the war ended; he was
17discharged in 1946; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Moore then moved north to provide his family
19with more opportunities; upon arriving in Chicago, he settled
20in the North Lawndale area with his wife and daughter; in 1955,
21he was hired by Joslyn Manufacturing Company, where he worked
22for 30 years and retired as a Foreman; and

1    WHEREAS, John Moore was married for 39 years before his
2wife's untimely death; he and his wife raised five children; he
3has been a member of Carey Tercentenary AME Church in North
4Lawndale for over 50 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Moore enjoys spending time with his family
6and traveling the country; he recently visited the Air Force
7base in Biloxi to commemorate the time he spent there in 1944;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11recognize the bravery, determination, and patriotism of John
12Moore, and we congratulate him on his Honor Flight
13participation; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to John Moore as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
