HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Timothy
4Bradford, who passed away on December 1, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford came from humble beginnings; a native
6of Chicago, he graduated from Crane High School, where he was
7an athlete; his family instilled in him a tenacious work ethic;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford began his professional journey at
10Quaker Oats in a managerial position, where he stayed for 25
11years; he later established himself as an entrepreneur with an
12interest in a Miller Beer Distributorship in St. Louis,
13Missouri; he also owned Docks Fish, a popular food franchise;
14his success in the field of sales and marketing forged his path
15as a dedicated leader in the south suburban political community
16and the Democratic Party; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford wanted to change the social and
18political landscape of the South Suburbs; he was first elected
19Township Committeeman in 2002, and he rose through the ranks to
20become the first Vice Chairman of the Cook County Democratic
21Party; he also served as Administrator at Rich Township; and

1    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford was elected to the Metropolitan Water
2Reclamation District Board of Commissioners in 2014 and served
3as Chairman of the Ethics and Federal Legislation Committees;
4he was also the Vice Chairman of the Maintenance and Operations
5and Monitoring and Research Committees; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford volunteered on the boards of numerous
7civic and business organizations, including the Rich High
8School District 227 Advisory Board, the Great Lakes Bank
9Advisory Board in Matteson, and was the President of the
10Matteson Rotary International Club; he also coached youth
11basketball for many years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford served 30 years as an elected member
13of the Olympia Fields Park District Board and served three
14terms as president; he received many awards, including the
15Eagle Award for 30 years of service to the Olympia Fields Park
16District, the Hero's Award from the Village of Olympia Fields,
17and the Diversity Award from DiversityInc; the Matteson
18Business Association honored him for becoming an elected
19official; his accomplishments included fighting racial
20steering, developing affirmative marketing ordinances, helping
21local government and community-based organizations,
22encouraging people to run for office, and promoting racial
23ethnic and gender inclusiveness; and

1    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford was preceded in death by his son,
2Shance; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Tim Bradford is survived by his wife of more than
450 years, Mary Ann; his children, Cherise, Corey, and Ty; and
5his grandchildren, Bryce, Blaine, Chase, Ryder, Blake, Aiden,
6Talon, and Nya; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn the passing of Timothy Bradford and extend our sincere
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Tim Bradford as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
