HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On March 17, 2018, the Southeast High School Spartans competed in the Class 3A Boys State Basketball Tournament, their first state championship game in the school's history; the team concluded an impressive season with a loss to the back-to-back champions, Chicago Morgan Park High School; and

WHEREAS, The Southeast Spartans impressed fans across the State when they had an eight-game winning streak and set a school record of 29 wins and four losses for the season; and

WHEREAS, Spartan Terrion Murdix secured a lead of 23-22 in the second quarter with a big bucket; capitalizing on the momentum after half time, Southeast rallied with senior Kobe Medley, who nailed a three-pointer, which brought the score to 44-43 and put the Spartans in the lead again in the third quarter; and

WHEREAS, Junior All-Star Anthony Fairlee led Southeast with 16 points and ten rebounds, while Murdix and Medley added 12 and ten points respectively; and

WHEREAS, Through hard work, dedication, team work, and excellent coaching, the Spartans were able to succeed in breaking school records and playing in the championship; this season was remarkable for the players, the students, and the fans; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we applaud and commend the Southeast Spartans on their accomplishments and wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the 2018 Southeast High School Spartans coaching staff and school administrators as an expression of our esteem and respect.
