SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/14-12.03 new

    Amends the Children with Disabilities Article of the School Code. For the Chicago school district only, requires the school board to annually develop and make publicly available a report on the school district's special education expenditures and services; specifies requirements for the report. Requires the school board to post the report on its Internet website and publish it in a newspaper of general circulation in the district. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
514-12.03 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/14-12.03 new)
7    Sec. 14-12.03. Expenditure report; city with more than
8500,000 inhabitants.
9    (a) This Section applies only to school districts organized
10under Article 34 of this Code.
11    (b) A school board must annually develop and make publicly
12available a report on the school district's special education
13expenditures and services. The school board must, at minimum,
14post the report on its Internet website and publish it in a
15newspaper of general circulation in the district. The report
16must include, but is not limited to, the school district's
17special education spending by category, the numbers of students
18with an individualized education program, the number of
19students with a federal Section 504 plan, and the aggregate
20service minutes for the individualized education programs of
21that school district, segregated by type of service.
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
