    Amends the Property Tax Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Special Service Area Tax Law.

1    AN ACT concerning revenue.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
5Section 27-5 as follows:
 
6    (35 ILCS 200/27-5)
7    Sec. 27-5. Short title; definitions. This Article may be
8cited as the the Special Service Area Tax Law.
9    When used in this Article:
10    "Services contract" means an agreement between a service
11provider agency and a municipality or county for the purpose of
12providing special services in and for a special service area.
13    "Service provider agency" means an entity that enters into
14a services contract with a municipality or county for the
15purpose of providing special services in and for a special
16service area.
17    "Special Service Area" means a contiguous area within a
18municipality or county in which special governmental services
19are provided in addition to those services provided generally
20throughout the municipality or county, the cost of the special
21services to be paid from revenues collected from taxes levied
22or imposed upon property within that area. Territory shall be
23considered contiguous for purposes of this Article even though

1certain completely surrounded portions of the territory are
2excluded from the special service area. A county may create a
3special service area within a municipality or municipalities
4when the municipality or municipalities consent to the creation
5of the special service area. A municipality may create a
6special service area within a municipality and the
7unincorporated area of a county or within another municipality
8when the county or other municipality consents to the creation
9of the special service area.
10    "Special service area commission" means a local board
11established by the corporate authorities of a municipality or
12county for the purpose of managing a particular special service
13area.
14    "Special Services" means all forms of services pertaining
15to the government and affairs of the municipality or county,
16including but not limited to weather modification and
17improvements permissible under Article 9 of the Illinois
18Municipal Code, and contracts for the supply of water as
19described in Section 11-124-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code
20which may be entered into by the municipality or by the county
21on behalf of a county service area.
