| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of
Gerald Francis Fitzgerald of Barrington | 4 | | Hills, Illinois, and Naples, Florida, who passed away on | 5 | | October 30, 2010; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Fitzgerald was a graduate of Fenwick High | 7 | | School in Oak Park; after serving as a U.S. Army sergeant in | 8 | | the Combat Engineers in the European theatre during World War | 9 | | II, he completed his college education at Northwestern | 10 | | University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in commerce; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 1961, Gerald Fitzgerald founded the Suburban | 13 | | Bank Group of Palatine, which eventually grew to 13 banks and | 14 | | 31 locations before merging with Bank of Montreal's Harris Bank | 15 | | in 1994; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents, John J. and Olivia Trader Fitzgerald; his brothers, | 18 | | John and Alan; and his sister, Jean Fitzgerald Swanson; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Fitzgerald is survived by his beloved wife | 20 | | of 61 years, Marjorie Gosselin Fitzgerald, whom he married in | 21 | | 1949 after meeting at Northwestern; his children, Gerald F. |
