SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with great sadness of the death of Daniel W. "Dan"
4 Schindlbeck of Aurora on Tuesday, June 8, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Schindlbeck was born on August 10, 1943, in
6 Aurora to Joseph and Bernice (Modaff) Schindlbeck; he was a
7 1961 graduate of Marmion Military Academy; he earned a Master's
8 Degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University in
9 1976, and has continued his police education by attending
10 numerous police seminars and training sessions throughout his
11 law enforcement career; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Schindlbeck was an Aurora Police Officer for
13 28 years, reaching the rank of lieutenant before retiring in
14 1994; while on the force, he helped develop community-policing
15 programs in Aurora; he went on to develop similar programs when
16 he was employed with the Kane County Sheriff Department, where
17 he had served for the past 10 years; he was currently serving
18 as the Undersheriff; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Mr. Schindlbeck was a member of the Blue Knights
20 Motorcycle Club, a past president of the Kane County Chiefs of
21 Police, a member of the Illinois Chiefs of Police, the Illinois
22 Sheriffs' Association, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #14,
23 the Illinois Police Association, the Aurora Turners Club,
24 Batavia Moose Lodge #682, and Holy Cross Church in Batavia; and
 
25     WHEREAS, Mr. Schindlbeck was an avid golfer and card player
26 and loved to ride his Harley and his John Deere tractor; he was
27 a caring, loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed
28 being with his family and friends; he is remembered with a
29 sense of humor that few could resist; and
 
30     WHEREAS, The passing of Daniel W. "Dan" Schindlbeck has

1 been deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 39 years,
2 Janice (Nowodzelski) Schindlbeck; his children, Steven
3 (Pamela) Schindlbeck, Christine (David) Fitzgerald, and Stacey
4 (Mickey) Vaja; his grandchildren, Megan and Adam Fitzgerald and
5 Allison Schindlbeck; his parents, Joseph and Bernice
6 Schindlbeck; his sister, Jodeen Lautwein; and his many nieces,
7 nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10 Daniel W. "Dan" Schindlbeck, and we extend our sincerest
11 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12 him; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Daniel W. "Dan" Schindlbeck as an
15 expression of our deepest sympathy.
