SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David B. Stolman of Buffalo Grove, who
4passed away on May 12, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Stolman, the son of Edward and Helen
6Stolman, was born on November 24, 1948; he attended the
7University of Illinois and earned his law degree from DePaul
8University; he became a resident of Buffalo Grove in the
9mid-1970s, where he resided for nearly 50 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Stolman was an active investor and a real
11estate attorney by profession, but his greatest impact came
12from his dedication to making a difference; his first foray
13into public service was as a member of the Village of Buffalo
14Grove's Zoning Board of Appeals; he served Lake County through
15a variety of elected positions, including as a member of the
16Lake County Board from 1992 to 2014, as board chairman from
172010 to 2012, and as treasurer from 2014 to 2018; as a member
18of the county board, he was an advocate for the proposed Route
1953 extension into central Lake County and fought to keep the
20county's budget balanced; as treasurer, he worked to make
21property owners' tax bills more transparent and developed a
22comprehensive investment strategy that resulted in millions of
23dollars in earnings for the county; and

1    WHEREAS, David Stolman was the past president of
2Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove, chairman of the
3Northwest Suburban Lawyers and Government Agencies Division of
4the Jewish United Fund, and a founding member of the Northwest
5Suburban Jewish Community Center; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Stolman was a force of strength for his
7entire family and his beloved friends, and he was instrumental
8in teaching others about love of community, activism, and
9charitable work; he will be remembered as a caring public
10servant, a devoted family man, and an active community leader;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Stolman was the husband of Maureen (Kahn)
13Stolman for 52 years; the father of Karen (Adam) Firsel and
14Kenneth (Shelley) Stolman; the grandfather of Emma Firsel, Eli
15Firsel, Ari Stolman, Brooke Stolman, and Chloe Stolman; the
16brother of Mark (Ronna) Stolman and the late Leah (late Mel)
17Bransky; the brother-in-law of Jamie (Carol) Kahn; and the
18uncle and friend to many; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21David B. Stolman and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
