SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan, who passed
4away on February 12, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was born to Joseph and Eloise Hill
6Hogan on January 30, 1934; he attended St. Agnes Elementary
7School and graduated from Cathedral Boys High School; he
8served in the U.S. Army for two years and then graduated from
9the University of Illinois Police Training Institute; he
10married Carol Lee Spears in Alton on August 27, 1960; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan served the City of Springfield for 31
12years as a police officer and retired in 1993 as a detective
13sergeant; he worked security at the Illinois State Fair for 33
14years; he was the state treasurer for the Police Benevolent
15and Protection Association of Illinois and was also president
16of the Springfield unit; he was appointed to the Illinois Law
17Enforcement Training and Standards Board, which oversees the
18training of all police officers in the State; after retiring
19from the Springfield Police Department, he worked security in
20the Illinois Senate, where he met former State Senator and
21U.S. President Barack Obama; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan received the William Herndon Award in

11979 for the outstanding arrest of the year; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was affectionately know as "Bobby" or
3"Bobby Joe"; he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Notre
4Dame football; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was preceded in death by his parents;
6his wife, Carol; his daughter, Kelli S. Hogan; his
7granddaughter, Lily E. Hillyer; and his brother, Joseph "Jody"
8Hogan; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Hogan is survived by his son, Robert Kevin
10Hogan; his daughter, Kristi Jo (Eric) Hillyer; his
11grandchildren, James (Kayla), Jacob, Chloe, and Ava; his
12sister-in-law, Sue Buoy; his great-grandson, Owen; and his
13niece, Stacey (Dean) Graven; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bob Hogan as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
